In response to the Parable of the Good Samaritan, students will draw or write about a time when they demonstrated love for neighbor, as Jesus calls us to do. Then volunteers can share their work with the class.
The students will write a cinquain poem describing one of the people from Story 9, The Passion of Jesus. This can be an opportunity for students to enjoy small group collaboration.
In this activity, students will number in sequence the events from the last days of Jesus' earthly life. They will also use their own words to describe each event.
In the final activity for The Life of Jesus section, students will solve a coded word puzzle. The solution reveals Jesus' message to the Apostles before his Ascension.
Afterward students can proclaim this message together and share any work from other activities before proceeding to the next section of Our Catholic Heritage.
Working with a partner, students will write a news story describing Jesus' healing of the sick woman or his healing of Jairus' daughter. They will also draw an image for their "news reporting."
In this activity, students will correct false statements about the Parable of the Forgiving Father. Then with a partner they will act out the entire scene from this parable for the class.
