The Lenten Journey of Prayer
On the Road
The third traditional Lenten practice is prayer. We are called to deepen our spiritual lives during this season though both individual and communal prayer. We also have opportunities to celebrate the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation and the Stations of the Cross. We also can pray the Liturgy of the Hours or an adapted prayer form for classroom prayer during Lent. We can foster opportunities for individual meditation and other forms of quiet prayer.
Yet what is equally important is that we enter into this sacred time of Lent as the Body of Christ. Our Lenten practices keep us focused on our need for conversion, repentance, and sacrifice.
Encounter
“We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you. Because by your holy Cross you have redeemed the world.”
Stations of the Cross
“Prayer enlarges the heart until it is capable of containing God’s gift of himself.”
Blessed Mother Teresa
