Witness to the Gospel (Week of September 15)

Catechetical Sunday is about more than simply recognizing and affirming the catechists in your parish who so generously witness to the Gospel. Throughout this year you can support them and encourage them in their ministry of service to the Church. You can help catechists deepen their relationship with the Risen Lord by sponsoring retreats, classes, and other programs for the continuing formation of catechists. You can also volunteer in out-reach programs to witness for Christ yourself. And you can also look for ways to invite students to meet Jesus in their daily lives. h3. Encounter "If you are what you should be, you will set the world ablaze." (Blessed Pope John Paul II) "But someone will say, "˜You have faith and I have works.' Show me your faith apart from your works, and I by my works will show you my faith (James 2:18). h3. Go Forth How will you celebrate your Baptism through your ministry this week? Write a prayer expressing your goals for rekindling the faith of those you serve this year. Make these goals an offering to God by your daily works in service to the Lord.
