Water, Water ...Everywhere (Week fo April 14)
On the Road
Water is the primary sign of the new life we receive in Baptism. During the Easter Sunday liturgy, we renew our baptismal promises accompanied by a sprinkling rite. Spend time this week reflecting on the connection between Easter and Baptism. Become familiar with your parish's baptismal font, perhaps taking more time blessing yourself next time you go to Mass. Consider making space in your home, office, or classroom for holy water. You may choose to have an appropriate bowl mounted near a heavy traffic doorway. Each time you enter into the space, you can bless yourself with the holy water and recall your baptismal promises. Emphasize that we are made new again through the Death and Resurrection of Christ.
Encounter
"Baptism is God's most beautiful and magnificent gift"¦We call it gift, grace, anointing, enlightenment, garment of immortality, bath of rebirth, seal, and most precious gift." Saint Gregory of Nazianzus "I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will remove from your body the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh." Ezekiel 36:25-26
