Moments for Prayer (Week of September 1)
On the Road
God calls all of us in the ministry of catechesis to be teachers of prayer. In the _United States Catholic Catechism for Adults_, the U.S. Bishops remind us that prayer requires not only our time and attention, but as equally important, our best efforts (see page 476). In order to be a teacher of prayer, each of us must form a deep personal spiritual and prayerful life. In the busyness of our lives, finding time for prayer can be difficult. However, even in these busy times, we can choose to make them moments for prayer. We can give our attention to what is most important in life, and thank God for blessing us. We can also ask that the Lord continue to walk with us so that all that we do is for his greater glory. h3. Encounter "Prayer is the place of refuge for every worry, a foundation for cheerfulness, a source of constant happiness, a protection against sadness." (St. John Chrysostom) "Blessed be God, / because he has not rejected my prayer / or removed his steadfast love from me" (Psalms 66:20). h3. Go Forth In what ways do you most often pray? Are you satisfied with your prayer life? If not, how can you enrich this important aspect of your spirituality?
