Models of Faith
On the Road
We celebrate the Solemnity of All Saints on November 1st. In the Gospel reading, we hear Jesus preach the Beatitudes in the Sermon of the Mount. Jesus tells us that if our actions flow from Christian attitudes, we can rejoice because the promise of eternal life is ours. Later in the Gospel, Jesus teaches us that we must shine brightly before others so that they may see the good that we do, and that our deeds may give glory to God (see Matthew 5:16).
This is the life of a saint and why the Church celebrates every saint whose lives shine brightly for us today. And so we give thanks for the example of the saints and pray that the Lord will help us become models of faith for others.
Encounter
“For I am the LORD your God; sanctify yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am holy” (Leviticus 11:44).
There are no two saints alike; but all of them are like God; like him in a different and special way” (Thomas Merton).
