Finding Balance (Week of August 25)

Multi-tasking is an important part of every person's life. Yet, juggling all these tasks is often difficult"”to the point of skewing life. Unless you can find and maintain balance, you run the risk of losing yourself in the job. Work is good and has a purpose. And as the popular adage goes, we are "not to live to work, but to work to live." So take time each day to center yourself in the presence of God"”for in him you are truly balanced. When we first focus on God, we are better able to prioritize our tasks for the day. Balancing the many aspects of life is crucial to being a successful and happy program director, catechetical leader, catechist, teacher, or even busy parent. Being centered on God makes finding balance possible. h3. Encounter "Start by doing what is necessary, then do what is possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible. (Saint Francis of Assisi) "And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life? But strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well " (Matthew 6:27, 33). h3. Go Forth Make a list of the different tasks you juggled in the past week. How does this list reflect the priorities essential to your keeping focused on God and his Kingdom? What is one thing you can do to establish a better sense of balance in your life? How might you achieve acting upon this?
