Called to Holiness
On the Road
This week we celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We remember Mary having been taken, body and soul, into Heaven. We too rejoice like Elizabeth who proclaimed Mary blessed among women (see Luke 1:42). Mary is blessed because she responded perfectly to God’s call in her life.
Each of us is to say yes to God, who calls everyone to holiness. In the busyness of your day, you can ask Mary, our heavenly Mother, to help you surrender your will to God’s will.
Encounter
“’Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it!’” (Luke 11:28)
From Mary we learn to surrender to God’s will in all things.” (Pope John Paul II, Homily, 6 October 1979)
Go Forth
How can I best imitate Mary in my ministry this week?
What can I do to help children and adults follow Mary’s example in their own lives?
